40% of the women in Paje work in seaweed industry, seaweed farming was introduced by Japanese businessmen in the early 1988s for export to Japan. Furahia Wanawake Paje is an independent seaweed production cooperative that is welcoming visitors to take the audience to the harvest and see how the process is done.
