Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru National Park is one of the best national parks in Kenya, given that it has one of the Rift Valley soda Lakes, Lake Nakuru. Park Park has three main gates, and once you get into it,  you will enjoy a wide variety of wildlife species, especially the Flamingoes, which make the lake look pink.

History of Lake Nakuru National Park

Nakuru National Park is famous for the colonies of flamingos that live on the shores of the park. Nakuru Park Kenya is a premium game park, one of only three in the country and one of Kenya’s most visited game parks.

Lake Nakuru Park is known as a bird lover because of the numerous birds that make a home in this park. Park Nakuru Kenya Park is home to over 400 bird species, including the flamingos on the lake and in the park’park’sPark’snahslands. The bird species include but are not limited to African Fish Eagle, Slender-billed greenbul, Long-tailed widowbird, Rufous-throated wryneck, Montane white-eye, Red-capped lark, Northern puff back, RüppeRüppell’sn-chat, Shining sunbird and many more.

Nakuru National Park, though famous for its numerous birds, is also a wild game destination for animal lovers and wildlife explorers. Lake Nakuru Park is a habitat for over 100 endangered Rhinos, including black and white rhinos; the park iParkso is home to the endangered RothscRothschild’sfe and 50 or more animal species, including buffalos, waterbucks, lions, impalas, and many more.

Lake Nakuru National Park in Central Kenya is famous for its vast flocks of pink flamingos. The birds throng on Lake Nakuru itself, one of the Rift Valley soda lakes that covers almost a third of the park’spark’sPark’sNakuru National Park was established in 1961, and more than 450 species of birds have been recorded here, as well as a rich diversity of other wildlife. Lions, leopards, warthogs, waterbucks, pythons, and white rhinos are some animals you might see. The landscapes range from sweeping grasslands bordering the lake to rocky cliffs and woodland.

The park park protects the largest euphorbia candelabrum forest in Africa. These tall, branching succulents are endemic to the region and provide a bold textural element to the arid landscapes.

The best time to visit Lake Nakuru is during the dry season, which runs from June to March and January to March. During these seasons, many smaller watering holes dry up, causing animals to gather at Lake Nakuru for water.

Lake Nakuru National Park is Kenya’Kenya’sd most famous national park, Park Masai Mara, and it is easy to see why. Close to Nairobi and relatively compact, it has a vast lake at its heart, drawing a massive quantity of birdlife and all the big game animals you’d love. Lake Nakuru is one of the best places to see rhinos in Kenya, and giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and antelopes are all easy to spot. The big draw is the vast flocks of flamingos that are often found in the shallows.

The wildlife in Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru National Park hosts many games, and good sightings are virtually guaranteed. What Lake Nakuru National Park has that the other significant parks don’t is a shoreline often thick with pink flamingos and pelicans fishing the shallows—the only major wildlife exceptions in the park are crocodiles and elephants. Lake NakuruNakuru’s sife highlights include many Rothschild giraffes, lions, black and white rhinos, hippos, and large flocks of flamingos and pelicans.

The Habitat in Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru plays host to a variety of terrain. The soda lake provides shallows, mud flats, and swamp, while the surrounds provide some classical African Acacia woodlands interspersed with grasslands, to the West of the park lParka cliff which hosts bush and scrub and troops of troublesome baboons. There are some fantastic lookouts atop the cliff over the lake; keep a tight hold on your camera as the Baboons have been known to take them.

How do you fit Lake Nakuru into your Kenya Holiday?

Lake Nakuru is in the Rift Valley, a two-hour drive from Nairobi. It is en route for anybody heading to Masai Mara or the Mount Kenya region. Near Lake Nakuru National Park are Lake Elimentatai (hot springs), Lake Naivasha (hippos), and Hell’s Hell’s (walking or cycling amidst zebras, antelope, buffalo, and giraffe). Many visitors spend two or three days in the area. Lake Nakuru typically warrants one overnight stay and a half-day game drive.
