Katavi Wildlife Camp

Katavi Wildlife Camp

Katavi National Park, Tanzania.

Katavi Wildlife Camp is set amongst the trees that fringe the Katisunga plains. During the day, you can watch the predators watching the plains game from the veranda of your tent or the upper viewing lounge. In the evenings, you can anticipate the excitement of the predators hunting their dinner as the game moves back to the trees.

Nestled in the fringe of woodland that skirts this seasonal lake, Katavi Wildlife Camp blends seamlessly into its environment and enjoys one of the best views in the park.

Katavi consists of six large Meru-style tents overlooking the pla. Each tent is built on a raised wooden platform and sheltered by a traditionally thatched roof from the midday sun. Each tent is en-suite and has a large veranda with an armchair and chairs. There are four double and two twin tents, and all have a safe.

Services & Amenities of Katavi Wildlife Camp

Room types of Katavi Wildlife Camp

Dining and Bar:

The camp is located where the Katuma River drains the Katisunga plain. The two-storey main banda is ideally positioned to maximise views of the game’s daily movements between grazing and drinking from the Katuma River. Downstairs is a bar, a few sitting areas with comfortable armchairs, and a cosy dining area at the front of the banda overlooking the Kitasunga plains.

Upstairs is a sitting area where guests can relax in the day’s heat, with stunning and far-reaching views overlooking the Katisunga plains. There is a small selection of books and magazines to browse.

Our fire pit is just outside the front door. Here, guests can have a pre-dinner drink and swap stories from the day’s safari.

Life in Camp:

We aim to provide our guests with an ‘off the beaten track’ immersive wildlife experience.
The remoteness of our camps and lodges is a big part of achieving this goal.
This means some elements of everyday life in the African Bush will differ from what you are used to at home.
Foxes Safari Camps provides an incredible middle ground between genuinely becoming one with nature and maintaining a comfortable stay.

Solar Water Heaters have been installed for each room, which uses the sun’s natural energy to provide you with hot running water. Water temperature might fluctuate, but being near the equator with intense solar energy, this is not common.

Tanzania’s mains electricity does not extend into remote National Parks, therefore we must make use of solar energy and generators to provide energy to the camp.

We are happy to announce that Katavi Wildlife Camp has installed solar panels, which generate electricity and provide eco-friendly, round-the-clock power to our camp.

One of the marvels of Katavi Wildlife Camp is the wildlife that roams around camp, meaning your safari does not end after a game drive. For safety, Maasai guides take our guests on short walking safaris between their rooms and other camp areas.
