Tsavo West

Day 1: Diani – Tsavo East – Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary

You will be picked up early from your hotel or residence in Diani and begin the scenic 2–3 hour drive along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway. As the sun rises over the Indian Ocean, watch the coastal scenery transition into the dramatic plains of Tsavo East National Park. Embark on your first game drive in Tsavo East, where the famous red elephants roam and dramatic landscapes create a backdrop for your adventure. Pause mid-day for a picnic in the wild or lunch at a nearby lodge before heading out for another afternoon game drive. Continue to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, arriving at the Salt Lick Safari Lodge, where your stilted room overlooks wildlife below, providing a unique and immersive overnight experience.

Return to your lodge for breakfast, then check out and embark on a scenic drive to Tsavo West National Park, enjoying a packed lunch along the way. Explore the park’s rugged terrain, lava flows, and hidden oases while on an afternoon game drive. In the evening, retreat to Voyager Ziwani Camp, a tranquil lodge just outside Tsavo West, where you will experience an exclusive night game drive, observing the nocturnal side of Tsavo’s wildlife.
