Kitulo National Park is a protected area of montane grassland and montane forest on the Kitulo Plateau in the southern highlands of Tanzania. The park is at an elevation of 2,600 meters (8,500 ft) between the peaks of the Kipengere and Poroto mountains. It covers an area of 412.9 square kilometers (159.4 sq mi) in the Mbeya and Njombe regions. The park is administered by Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) and is the first national park in tropical Africa to be established primarily to protect its flora.
While botanists have referred to it as the “Serengeti of Flowers.”

Bird watching: Tanzania is gifted with a variety of bird species, and the Kitulo National Park has its portion of numerous birds, the most common being Denham’s bustard, which is not often seen in other parts of the country, cisticola, and kipengere seed eater to mention a few.
Hiking: Tourists can hike the montane grasslands, exposing them to various flower species, butterflies, chameleons, lizards, and animals like elands and waterbucks. The montane grasslands provide an arena with a glorious view from the top. It’s also a unique place for photogenic lovers to take as many photos as possible.
Mountain climbing: Tourists can take a day hike on top of mouth Rungwe and see primates like the vervet monkeys, Kipunji monkey with a long Hong bark call, Columbus monkeys animals like Reed bucks and elands may also be seen at the mountain slopes.

Guided nature walks: Tourists can take guided nature walks to the Livingstone forested area and visit Lake Nyasa shorelines. From here, they can relax and enjoy lunch at the adorable Matema beach before returning. Along the way, tourists will see many wildlife and other plant species.
Swimming: Besides visiting tourist attractions, tourists can swim in the Rauha River and get refreshed in the wilderness.
The best time to visit Kitulo National Park is from June to March, but the park can also be accessed from mid-December to February.
The Kitulo National Game Park headquarters is located at Matamba in the Mbeya region of Tanzania, an hour’s drive from Matamba. Tourists can use public transport, safari vehicles, or their private means. A railway can also access the park from Dar- -es Salam to Mpanda via Tobora, then catch public transport to Sitalike, where tourists can get game drives from exceptional hires.
