The six thatched bedroom villas are scattered east to west along the coral ras, with lovely sea views and generous living areas. Furnished to an extremely high spec, they are a joy to behold and a delight to stay in.
Each villa is unique, in different styles and with different amenities: extra rooms and bathrooms for children, breeze-cooled loft rooms, outside showers or baths, and even a parapet terrace right on the sea’s edge.
If Robinson Crusoe had found a few more tools and a crowd of craftsmen to help him, he might have built this as his hideaway. This room is all about the ocean—delicate marine blues, antique boat timber furniture, and a fabulous outside shower.

Africa gets a contemporary makeover, with bold tribal textiles, carvings and calming creams. With the sunlight filtering through and a flame tree shading the verandah, a soft sanctuary for tropical days.
The vivacity of Zanzibar pervades these two companion rooms – strong colours, naïve African modern art and quirky antiques. All centred around a generous shared terrace and verandah for long, lazy afternoons by the ocean.
Between Sundowner and Plantation, to the east of the living areas. The Sultan companion rooms offer space and privacy, especially for a family or friends travelling in Africa together. Garden situated on the coral cliff offering unimpeded sea views.
Situated west of the living areas, close to the dining room and kitchen. There is a wonderful seating area upstairs for relaxing and enjoying those incredible sea views.
Think romantic colonial with a dusting of spice. The retreat is for seasoned planters to recover themselves amidst antique maps, botanical drawings and Persian rugs. Upstairs, a room in the eaves, breeze-cooled and bursting with sea view.

Probably the most romantic of all the bedroom villas, harking back to the days of the sultans, harems and parapets. A mini tropical palace for two, couched in rampant greenery and teetering on the edge of the coral cliff.
Tucked away on the far eastern end of the ground is the most private of our cottages. It is a bit of a safari and down 20 shallow steps, right into our Swahili sanctuary. Classic East African architecture and style, with a private pool. Closest to shore and has an incredible rooftop terrace with sea views everywhere.
