FAQs

The Machame route leads to the magnificent Barranco Wall, a highlight of many trekkers’ trips.

We always advise clients to choose the seven-day Machame route over the six-day route. The latter doesn’t offer enough time for the body to acclimate correctly, essential for avoiding altitude sickness.

That said, it’s a personal choice, and we’re happy to lead climbers on both the six- and seven-day Machame routes.

The Machame route is the most popular route on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the choice of many people because it provides impressive views and various habitats. About 50% of all climbers, including most seasoned climbers, choose the Machame route for their trip.

The Machame route has a high success rate, thanks to its many ups and downs, which allow better acclimatisation. However, taking your time to ensure a higher success rate is best. The 7-day itinerary has an average summit success rate of 85%, while the 6-day itinerary’s success rate drops to 75% on average.
