Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha - Tarangire
Tarangire National Park

Our guide-driver meets you at your stay in Arusha, and you immediately head to the park.

Tarangire is one of Africa's little-known gems. Its name comes from the Tarangire River, which flows through the park and is the only water source during the dry season.

Tarangire's landscape is incredibly diverse and unmatched anywhere else in northern Tanzania. The park is home to ancient baobab trees and giant termite mounds, believed by the Maasai as the world's first trees. During the dry season, the blazing sun turns the ground a dusty red color, while during the rainy season, everything turns green (thick bushes and lush tall grasses).

Known for its large elephant population, it is also home to lions, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, waterbucks, baboons, pygmy mongooses, impalas, buffalos, antelopes and fringed oryx. The swamps are divided by flocks of birds, including green forest hoopoes, lovebirds, tall herons, giant kingfishers, bustards, and ostriches.

You will have lunch in the park (the driver-guide will choose a picnic spot) and then continue your safari.

Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park

You'll visit Lake Manyara National Park for a full-day wildlife game viewing trip today. The Park, stretching along the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment, is home to giant fig trees, acacia and mahogany forests, and grassy water plains. The contrast is breathtaking: open plains, vast escarpments, a lake, dense forests, and distant volcanic peaks come together in an area that Ernest Hemingway called "the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in Africa."

Large buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, mongoose, dik-dik, and herds of zebra congregate on the grassy plains. Legendary tree-climbing lions and elephants live in a narrow strip of acacia forest.

Lake Manyara is ideal for discovering Tanzania's birds. Over 400 species have been recorded here, including thousands of pink flamingos on their endless migrations and other large waterfowl such as pelicans, cormorants, and storks.

Late afternoon drive to Maasai village for a cultural tour, and will then transfer back to Arusha or Airport for your next destination.
