Serengeti Safari

Serengeti Safaris

Crafted for You

There’s nothing quite like Serengeti Safaris—where the wild feels endless, and every turn holds a new surprise. The golden grasslands stretch as far as the eye can see, dotted with acacia trees and teeming with wildlife. This is where the Great Migration unfolds, a breathtaking spectacle of millions of wildebeest and zebras moving in search of fresh grazing, with predators lurking nearby.

Mornings start with the thrill of spotting lions on the prowl or elephants wandering in the soft light. As the day slows, so does the rhythm of the land—until sunset, when the Serengeti glows in hues of gold, and the night awakens with distant roars and rustling grass.

History of Serengeti National Park

The story of Serengeti National Park is one of conservation and coexistence. First documented by explorers in the late 1800s, this vast wilderness quickly gained recognition for its extraordinary wildlife. In 1930, it was declared a game reserve, and by 1951, it became Tanzania’s first national park. Over the years, boundaries expanded, creating a safe haven for migrating herds and apex predators. Today, it remains one of the world’s most celebrated wildlife sanctuaries, rich in history, biodiversity, and cultural significance. Key Historical Milestones of Serengeti National Park
  • Early Exploration (1800s – 1920s) – Explorers recorded vast wildlife populations and the first accounts of the Great Migration.
  • Game Reserve Establishment (1930) – A 2,286 sq. km area was protected, though sport hunting was still permitted.
  • Hunting Ban (1937) – All hunting activities were officially stopped to protect wildlife.
  • National Park Status (1951) – Serengeti became Tanzania’s first national park, including parts of today’s Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
  • Ngorongoro Separation (1959) – Ngorongoro became a separate conservation area to allow Maasai communities to continue grazing cattle.
  • Expansion (1960s) – The park grew, linking with Kenya’s Masai Mara to ensure a continuous migration corridor.
  • UNESCO Recognition (1981) – Serengeti National Park became a World Heritage Site for its ecological and cultural significance.

From its early days as a hunting ground to its current status as a global conservation success, Serengeti National Park stands as a testament to the balance between nature and protection. Today, it offers a front-row seat to one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on Earth—the Great Migration—and remains a symbol of Africa’s wild, untamed beauty.

Serengeti Safari: A Safari Lover’s Paradise

For me, Serengeti Safari is one of the most incredible experiences in Africa. Its untouched landscapes stretch endlessly, providing a home to some of the world’s most famous wildlife. The Serengeti’s vast plains and the stunning Ngorongoro Crater create a safari setting like no other.

One of my favorite moments was lying in my safari tent, listening to the powerful roar of a lion echo through the night. It was a true connection with nature, a reminder of how wild and beautiful the Serengeti is. This experience deepened my love for the region and its incredible wilderness.

When to do a Serengeti Safari

Best Time for Serengeti Safari

The best time to go on a Serengeti Safari depends on what you want to experience. The dry season (June to October) offers excellent wildlife viewing, as animals gather near water sources and visibility is at its best. This is also the peak time to witness the Great Migration and dramatic river crossings.

The wet season (November to May) transforms the park into a lush paradise, bringing fewer tourists and lower rates. January to February is the calving season in the Southern Serengeti, attracting predators and offering thrilling sightings. Birdwatchers will also find this season ideal, as migratory birds fill the skies.
